Wellington Local History and Museum Society is a registered charity run by a small team of dedicated volunteers and funded by membership subscriptions, donations, events and the sale of books, leaflets and souvenirs.
Wellington Local History & Museum Society aims to promote knowlege about the history of this small Somerset town by organising talks and visits, running the Museum and publishing books on local topics.
In addition to its own events the Society hosts visits from schools and local community groups in the Museum and has a busy outreach programme presenting to local organisations.
Due to the corronavirus pandemic the Museum is currently closed.
There is currently no planned opening date for the 2020 season, however the Society can still be contacted via post or email, so please do get in touch if you have a specific request.
Wellington Local History and Museum Society currently has two vacancies on its committee.
We'd be delighted to hear from you if you would like to know more about these volunteer roles.
Email for more information.
The number of people visiting the Museum in 2019 was up eight per cent year-on-year to 2,760.
This is the second highest visitor numbers in the last 16 years.
Thank you to everyone who visited us in 2019.

This week is National Volunteers Week so we'd like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to the dedicated team of volunteers who give their time so generously to the Local Hisory and Museum Society.
Without their help none of the charity's work would be possible.
