Museum Reopening
Wellington Museum was officially reopened on 6 March 2026 following refurbishment over the winter.
Charles Wellesley, the 9th Duke of Wellington performed the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon and declared the museum open and spoke about his ancestor, the first duke and his family’s proud association with the town. Other principal guests pictured right included: Gideon Amos MP; The Mayor of Wellington, Janet Lloyd; Mark Lithgow, Chair of Wellington Museum and Mike Menhenitt the Vice Chair.
Following the ceremony there was a reception in the council chamber courtesy of Wellington Town Council during which The Duke was awarded Honorary Life Membership of Wellington Local History and Museum Society.​
